In front of a good crowd at Tathra's Lawrence Park, the Pambula seniors piled on a series of goals in the second quarter to take the lead and pushed on to win 11-14-80 to 8-11-59.

Both clubs offered excellent displays out of their back lines with several attacking movements turned away at either end, but the Sea Eagles weren't quite up to the challenge of containing their Pambula opponents through the midfield. 

Billy Stubbs had a best on ground display for the Sea Eagles with some fantastic mark contests and long-range kicking options at the flanks. 

Stubbs also nailed two goals for the Sea Eagles, second only to full forward Adam Blacka, who slotted three six pointers. 

However, Pambula's Tom Ferguson was a weapon across the midfield, providing long-range bombs on goal or just breaking free of his man to set up forward movement for the Panthers. 

He provided clean deliveries to Tom Hammond, who led Pambula's goal kicking with three of his own ahead of Pambula flanker Shannon Butterfield who kicked two goals. 

They were joined by half-forward Mitch Wallis who also snagged two from range. 

It was a five-goal haul in the second quarter that opened the gates for Pambula to lead by 15 at the main break.

It was a narrow margin, but the clubs were too evenly matched, going kick-for-kick in the second half.

The young brigades from both clubs provided some of the better performances with returning Liam Walker-Eastick among the best for Tathra along with Louis Coulton and Zac Harlow. 

Pambula debut William Seach was tasked with covering some of Tathra's big names and performed admirably for a teenager, while Fin Cooke and Tynan Baker were among the best for the visitors. 

Earlier the Tathra Eaglettes opened their campaign in fine form with an 87-point win over the Panthers 13-10-88 to 0-1-1.
