UPDATE 6.50pm Saturday March 16
An 80-year-old man is understood to be in a critical condition, NSW Police media have said following the crash on the Princes Highway near Eden.
Diversions of traffic through Nethercote Road are believed to be causing some issues as the road which is unsealed for some 3.5kms has become very slippery, particularly for two wheel drive vehicles following the heavy rain today.
The alternative sealed route is via Mount Darragh Road, turning left into Back Creek Road and emerging south of Eden on the Princes Highway.
Earlier:
The Princes Highway is closed in both directions north of Eden following a serious two-vehicle crash in Eden this afternoon, Saturday, March 16.
Emergency services are currently on scene.
Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Haycock Road, 5km north of Eden, at 3.15pm following reports two vehicles have collided.
Officers from South Coast Police District established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Traffic diversions are currently in place.
Southbound light vehicles are being diverted at Nethercote Road and northbound light vehicles are being diverted at Boyd Street.
Heavy vehicles should delay travel as they are currently being stopped before the crash site and are unable to use the diversion.
