There's a twang and a slide of Mississippi delta blues echoing from the staircase of the old Hotel Australasia.

A few locals have gathered round to have a listen and throw a coin or two into the sticker-lined guitar case.
"I get a sticker from every town I perform in, normally when I leave. But I haven't left Eden yet and I don't know when I will."
Elixir Blues arrived in Eden straight from what she calls a "gruelling" tour of Tasmania and Queensland. On the way she found time to stop off at Wombat Studios in Gippsland to record her 11th album titled "Busting out the Blues".
Now set up on the abandoned steps of the Australasia, Elixir picks the strings and slides steel along the neck of her shiny metal resonator guitar, breathing life into the ageing doorway.
"I used to play here years ago, I feel a bit sentimental sitting here. It was a wild place back then. I remember playing behind a metal fence and the place was packed."
Coming back to Eden for the first time since the good old days of the Australasia, Elixir said she's discovered a town buzzing with inspiration and colour similar to the old delta blues days.
"It's kind of like stepping back in time, the laid-back feel of the town, if the ocean wasn't here it would be like playing in the streets of New Orleans. People seem to have an appreciation for live music in the street.
"There is a certain sound and character I get when I am playing on the streets here. It takes me back to the Mississippi," Elixir said.
Although not quite the jazz filled streets of New Orleans, Eden is a nice change of pace for Elixir who has toured the world extensively throughout her career.
"I've had so many cool experiences here. It's the kind of town that begs to be written about. I reckon my next album is going to be inspired by Eden."
In the Eden inspired material the songstress's local adventures with an insistent toe biting mud crab, wild dog and a wharf shark might just be the beginning of her ramblings.
With so much character and colour, the town of Eden seems to have weaved its magic into Elixir's bluesy soul. Who knows? That special Eden sticker may not ever make it onto her guitar case.
