Through the WeCare Foundation, Social Justice Advocate of the Sapphire Coast Mick Brosnan has helped to connect Pambula Preschool to a sister school in Port Moresby.
The WeCare Foundation trains marginalised women in early childhood education and supports them in opening kindergartens in areas where children are most vulnerable and not receiving formal education.
Annually, the preschool aims to collect 1000 quality early-learning books and education resources for the kindergartens.
Pambula preschool pupils have also been busy baking and creating goods for sale to their parents and carers to raise funds for the initiative.
Over the past two years the preschool has contributed over $1000 in addition to resources to assist the kindergartens improve their infrastructure.
Last year’s funds raised will go towards the building of an ablutions block to replace the single long-drop toilet currently used.
Pambula Preschool invites the wider community to be part of the valuable connection by contributing books and resources or cash donations which can be left at Pambula Preschool (Dingo Street).
