Rural Fire Service controller John Cullen has said that about 14 hectares has burnt in the Wyndham/Rocky Hall bushfire which started earlier today.
Dozers are now on scene and there has been a short shower of rain on the fire ground.
“We’re expecting to have an aircraft tomorrow,” Mr Cullen said.
Temperatures are expected to be about 30 again tomorrow and Mr Cullen said they were expecting a south south easterly breeze.
3.50pm, Thursday, January 17
Fire crews from Wyndham, Rocky Hall and Burragate are currently heading towards the New Buildings area of Wyndham after reports of a bushfire, Rural Fire Service controller John Cullen said this afternoon, January 17.
“We are currently getting crews and machinery on site and we’re waiting on their reports for mapping,” Mr Cullen said.
The fire at Wyndham comes ahead of forecast peak heatwave conditions tomorrow, Friday, January 18. The RFS has said that Very High to Severe fire danger will exist across most of NSW with Total Fire Bans in place for 13 areas.
The Far South Coast has a High Fire rating but the surrounding areas of the ACT, Southern Slopes and Southern Ranges all have Severe Fire ratings.
