Being an Eden local, Ms Severs said she understood the struggles and challenges people of Eden have faced in the past and can see the potential for the future.
“I come from Eden, I know the people and the challenges the town has had and continues to face. I have always felt people in Eden need their voices heard and our struggles to be understood,” Ms Severs said.
“It’s not the working town it once was. But it’s a great town with many possibilities and opportunities.
“We are moving forward into a new era, especially with the wharf development, the marina and cruise ship tourism.”
With a background of over 25 years working in community service including age care, foster care and youth issues, Ms Severs brings with her a wealth of experience to the role.
After having only been in the role just over a week, it seems Ms Severs has hit the ground running.
“There are already a few exciting ideas in the pipe line, especially to do with the youth. However at this early stage of planning and development, I can’t let out any secrets.”
Although interested in all areas of community health and support, Ms Severs said she has keen enthusiasm to support the town’s youth and unemployed.
Ms Severs said she hopes the access centre can reach it’s full potential by becoming a hub for a broad range of community services that will benefit the people of Eden.
