The display site has been prepared for the trusses’ arrival, project manager Phil Baird said there were many ideas on how to successfully transport the trussed from the council compound in Bega, across the bridge and to the display site.
“There were many different theories on how to get the trusses across the bridge, we finally came up with the approach on how to do it and put it to the national heavy vehicle regulator,” Mr Baird said.
Mr Baird said the trussess slightly exceed the 20 tonne load limit of the bridge, a permit has been received and the trusses are to be escorted to the site on Thursday and Friday.
Sapphire Coast Cranes will be doing the heavy lifting, placing the trusses in position.
