Duurunu Miru will be competing against groups representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island nations from across the country at Dance Rites – a competition involving hundreds of First Nations dancers from around Australia.
The groups will be judged with the top eight performances selected to move on to the finals on Sunday evening.
The Eden group of male and female dancers aged 3 to 30-years-old are competing for a prize of $20,000.
Founder of Duurunu Miru Shaquille Aldridge said they have been practicing “non-stop.”
“We are going for the experience but at the same time I do hope we go well,” he said.
The group are excited to share their Giiyong Welcome Dance away from their country for the first time.
“This will be the first time we have gone away from our country to dance, it is such a big experience for all of my group,” Mr Aldridge said.
