Food stalls, information tents, carnival rides, kite flying activities, timber and seafood showcases, live music, tours and so much more took over three sports fields, Aslings Beach and the High School Hall over the weekend November 2 – 4.
The Barclay Street Sports Complex was named the perfect location by a number of visitors and stallholders, although some minor adjustments to the layout for next year was said to be pitched to the committee.
The Australian Kite Flying Society said they were affected by turbulence and hope to return next year to set up in a different part of the complex.
“Because of the turbulence caused by the trees here we have had to get the kites up really high which is a shame because you lose sight of the kite,” Tony Walker said.
“But as far as festivals go, the small community towns do it better than say Sydney or Brisbane. Everyone here knows each other and the atmosphere is just fantastic,” he said.
The Australian Kite Flying Society have visited festivals all over the country and were thrilled to have taken part in Eden’s Whale Festival.
“Shannon and the committee have been very good looking after us, we are pleased to be here and we would love to be back next year,” Australian Kite Flying Society secretary Karen Gerg said.
The sunshine was the perfect compliment to the weekend, the festival attracted visitors both local and interstate to check out all of the action.
