The retro-futuristic fair will be held over two days, October 20-21, with organisers adding even more features to meet the Fair’s ever-increasing popularity.
The theme is ‘The Only Limit is Your Imagination’.
“We have filled the program with an amazing array of spectacular and fantastical Steampunk-inspired delights,” said the Fair’s coordinator, Julianne Salway.
“We have more activities, more market stalls and more live entertainment than ever before.”
Saturday is the official opening of the Fair from 10am.
Join a costume parade at noon, where patrons are asked to use creative flair and dress up in the genre that melds classical Victorian with industrial progress.
Sunday is a family fun day with archery, a petting zoo, a magician, stilt walkers, leather-work, teapot racing, tea and parasol dueling, an inventions competition, free face painting and live music playing from the band Melodia.
Other favourites include popular entertainers The Ragtime Ballroom Orchestra, Sideshow Annie, the Steam Diva and Doctor Lucifer, and Frippery.
On Saturday night, Steampunk band ‘A Peculiar Occurrence’ is also playing at the Goulburn Club on Market Street in town.
The 40th Regiment of Foot will demonstrate musket and canon firings, and horse and carriage rides are on offer.
Ms Salway said a splendid time was guaranteed for all.
A dozen food stalls on both days will cater for a variety of tastes and budgets with family-friendly options.
Ms Salway said she was impressed by the idea during a visit to the UK about seven years ago, when she first attended a Steampunk ball held at a Waterworks.
“People who are into Steampunk … will travel from far and wide,” she said. “That is why we decided to hold it over two days, to allow visitors to stay overnight, which will be a good economic boost for the city as well.”
There is limited onsite parking, so a park-and-ride service will run from the Goulburn Mulwaree Council car park in Clifford Street. Use is by donation, leaving from 9.45am every 30 minutes, with the last bus returning at 3.45pm on Saturday and 2.45pm on Sunday.
