Sergis, who took a head knock in the 30-4 loss to the Broncos last week, scored one try and saved two as she starred for the Red V on her 21st birthday.

South Coast product Kezie Apps and Melanie Howard were other standouts for the Dragons as they set up a high-stakes contest with the Roosters next weekend, with a grand final spot the likely prize for the winner.

The Warriors needed to get back to basics and use their power up the middle to put some pressure on the Red V. That was starting to happen but even when they found their spots, the Dragons seemed to have the answer.

Jessica Sergis produced a brilliant one-on-one tackle to hold up Langi Veainu over the line but the Warriors were beginning to get through their sets in better style.

Their middles were getting the better of the ruck battle and five-eighth Keeley Davis found herself in the sin bin for a professional foul as she clung on too long in the tackle. 

Alice Vailea crossed soon after for the Warriors and the try was awarded, only to be overturned by the bunker as she was correctly ruled to have lost the ball.

St George-Illawarra emerged off their line without conceding and looked far more comfortable in the middle of the field, where they could use some width and run around the physical Warriors pack.

Davis returned without any further damage to the scoreboard and half-time looked like it couldn't come soon enough for the Warriors.

Both teams had tries denied from forward pass calls but it was the Dragons that went into the break with more in the tank.

It was more of the same when they returned.

A pin-point kick from Howard set up winger Rikaya Horne, who ran the bravest of lines, regathered and swerved her way over to make it 18-nil.

The Warriors needed a dash of good fortune and a freakish bounce did the job.

After a rudderless fifth-tackle option, Sarina Clark hoisted the hopeful kick.

It evaded all the red and white jumpers and fell into the hands of the chasing Raquel Anderson-Pitman to make it 18-6.

But Sergis would put the result beyond doubt, spinning out of tackles and effecting the brilliant one-handed put-down to keep their hopes alive going into next week's clash with the Roosters.
