The junior grades play on Wednesday afternoons from 4.15-5pm. The starting time is to allow for Pambula school students to get to the courts on time.
There are three age groups participating.
The 5 to 7 years division is run by Janifer Hutchinson and last Wednesday the kids had fun learning chest passes, catching skills, played shooting relay on the lowered ring and finished off with a fun game of, ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf?
The 8 to 10 years division was run by Amy Cooper and Elissa McCabe. They began with passing/catching drills, tunnel ball and then a game of netta. While Amy umpired the game she also introduced the players to the simple rules of the game.
Cassandra Chatfield coached and umpired the Junior/Intermediate players. The girls started off with a warm-up, drills and then a short game. The players will be switched around each week so teams are more equal in strength.
Anyone who would like to participate is welcome so just head along on Wednesday afternoon and register. The club is also registered to accept the government sports vouchers. Boys up to 12 years are also welcome to play. The more the merrier.
The women’s competition began on Thursday night and what a great turnout they had! It was just like the old days. Elaine would be very pleased!
Six teams played on the night with one bye team. From next week there will be eight teams participating.
Results from Thursday September 6
Pharmacy Girls 27 defeated Twofold Team 2. The Twofold girls improved as the game progressed and with the return of Zenda Manton they will have a top shooter. Best on court were, Rylee Steel, Donna Lucas, Alison Simpson and Emily Lucas.
Pambula 9 defeated It’s Too Hard 2. A low scoring, hard fought game. Best on court were, Leasa Smith, Bec Wilson and Coby Leslie.
Tigers 37 defeated Sweaty Bettys 9. A few groans were heard as players dusted off the cobwebs and got into the game. Best on court were, Renee Dunne, Chelsie Cassie and Emma Flanagan.
Games need to start on time so everyone can get home at a decent time. Quarters are 12 minutes each so the games can be finished within an hour. Thanks go to those who umpired and scored and weren’t on the roster.

6pm – Pharmacy Girls v Twofold Team.
7pm – It’s Too Hard v Twofold Team (Sweaty Bettys).
All duty teams need to supply a scorer and two umpires per court. The BYE team for this week is the Whalers.
