As of 6.40am on Thursday more than 3300 hectares of bushland had been burned, but Fireys said conditions had eased significantly through the night making the firefront much more manageable. 

“The fire is not spreading as quickly as it had been -It's giving us the opportunity to pick up on the bits of fire that are closest to properties,” Marty Webster from the RFS said. 

The Fires Near Me App reports there is potential property damage or loss due to the fire, but services will not be able to confirm until assessments can be carried out on Thursday. 

Mr Webster said he had heard the reports, but nothing would be finalised until building impact assessment teams could be deployed today. 

Mr Webster encourages everyone to continue to “review and refine” their bushfire survival plan as this would be a continuing battle for fireys. 

“There are a number of issues that we’ve flagged and are planning around.”

“We will be dealing with this fire for an ongoing period and we're likely to face ongoing challenges.

“People should take this opportunity to be prepared; we don’t want to heighten anxiety, but it is easy to think the worst is over.”

He said fire crews would likely be battling the bushfire into the weekend and people should take all precautions to stay safe. 

NSW RFS spokesman Chris said everyone in the vicinity should “keep abreast of the situation and monitor the conditions; if you don't feeel safe leaving early is the safest option.”

He said fire crews were swapping shifts and would be holding a briefing at about 8am with a number of strategies in place to attempt to contain the fire on Thursday. 

By 6.30am winds were sitting at a steady 4km/4 in a South-easterly direction, but is forecast to build through the morning and turn north-easterly with winds up to 40km/h expected again by 10am. 

Peak gusts were reported up to 100km/h in surrounding areas on Wednesday. 

The Snowy Mountains Highway was closed overnight, but has been reopened.
