St Cecilia
Eurobodalla St Cecilia Youth Music Scholarships invites young music performers to participate in a fun Pop-up Concert.
"There's some wonderful musical talent on the south coast,” youth music president Chris Heazlewood said.
"This casual Pop-up Concert is just one way that young people can showcase their musical capabilities."
Young musicians aged between 8 – 18 are invited to come along and perform for up to five minutes to an audience of fellow performers, friends, families and interested locals. This is not a competition but an opportunity for youth to enjoy themselves and entertain others.
"It doesn't matter what instrument you play ― from guitar to singing or from acoustic to electric.
"And it doesn't matter what type of music ― from hip-hop to jazz or from pop to country and western ― even opera,” Mr Heazlewood said.
The Pop-Up concert is open to the public and will be held the afternoon of Sunday, August 26 at St Peters Anglican College in Broulee.
To be involved and for more information email Pam Larkin, pamlarkin.music@gmail.com or phone 0497 270 882 by Friday, August 17.

Book Week
Children’s book author Susie Sarah of Wonboyn is excited to spend book week in her home area, visiting schools of the Bega Valley Shire as well as running a workshop for adult writers at Club Sapphire, Merimbula.
During book week schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature from August 18 – 24.
Ms Sarah can’t wait to visit Tathra, Merimbula and Eden Public School as their special guest author. Her fast paced sessions will encourage students to write, illustrate and perform their stories.
To suit this year’s book week theme – find your treasure, students will create personal treasure maps that begin and end right in their own backyards.
As part of book week and family history month Ms Sarah invites local writers to come along and join her at an all day workshop at the Club Sapphire on Saturday, August 18.
Hosted by the South Coast Writers Group, participants will discover a magical story that is right under their very noses – in their own backyards.
The workshop will consist of creating a story from a childhood memory, or a part of your family history.
“We will explore how to craft your story, make it into a picture book, or take it further as a collection of short stories,” Ms Sarah said.
Bring along your happy memories, note pads and pens, and have some fun re-creating a childhood tale to delight both your readers – and yourself. If an old family snapshot helps bring that along too.
The workshop will take place from 10am – 2.30pm at Club Sapphire on Saturday, August 18. Writers of the Far South Coast members cost $10, Non-members $15.
