Officials said the effort, sacrifice and commitment shown by teams had reflected in their results at the NSW State Age and State Championships.
“Teams achieved above and beyond and improved on last year’s overall position,” a spokeswoman said.
The Open team competed at the three-day state championships in Gosford in June.
“Utilising the spare of sneakers packed due to wet weather will test any grown woman's dedication to the sport,” she said. “However despite the rain, the opens team soared, securing sixth place by the end of the tournament.”
By contrast, sun beamed down on Cintra Park in Concord for the 12 to 15-year age championships.
Officials said all the teams performed brilliantly - with SCNA under 12's securing sixth place on the ladder and losing to the top team by just four goals – after forming as an 11s development squad in 2017. Michelle Kelly (SCNA coaching convener) believes exposure to repetitive weekly coaching is key.
“It’s imperative developing foundation skills in young players for any sport,” Ms Kelly said.
The association were grateful to launch a second development side with under 11s and 12s to promote development.
The Association commends the work of these young women and paid particular credit to their improvement at carnivals against larger clubs and established teams.
