Now organisers are keen to share the stage with performers and audiences from across the border.
Co-founder of YnoT Play Live Margo Harrison said the gig is all about the power of music to bring people together.
“We hope some of our neighbours from across the border will come down and join us, everybody is welcome.”
The open mic inspired sessions began as a tribute to the much loved Tony Wood.
The locally famous gathering had performers and audiences coming together, rocking out and strutting their stuff for years on Lucy’s Noodle shop veranda.
Tony’s daughter Ketzia Wood and co-founder of YnoT Play Live said Tony’s passing left a hole in the town’s heart and music community. The re-vamped event aims to carry on his legacy.
“YnoT is Tony spelled backwards and is a tribute to his character and philosophy of why not play live, why not have a go,” said Ms Wood.
Entry is via gold coin donation with all proceeds going to Mallacoota school’s P-12 music program.
Food will be available from local Greek Soul Food. For every souvlaki sold 10 per cent will be donated to the school music program.
Performers are encouraged to book a slot via www.ynotplay.live, or the YnoTplay.live Facebook page.
