The Social Justice Advocates of the Sapphire Coast have organised a weekend visit by refugee families to the local area.

On Friday, July 13, 35 refugees from Smithfield, Sydney will visit the area, arriving first at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Merimbula before joining their host families.
Gavin Bell from the SJASC said that they were going to be hosted by seven different families from Eden to Tanja.
A number of different events have been arranged for the visiting families including a day in Eden with visits to the Marine Discovery Centre, the Killer Whale Museum and a barbecue with a Welcome to Country.
They will also visit Bournda Environmental Education Centre and On the Perch, Tathra before going to see a dairy farm and Bega Cheese.
