“With this international incident fresh in our memories, the Mission to Seafarers in Eden Port looked forward to an opportunity to extend a friendly welcome to the Filipino crew of the log ship which were spending a few days in Eden while their vessel, Otago Harbour, was being fumigated in preparation for the final loading of cargo,” Chaplain to Mission to Seafarers Eden Port Reverend Michael Palmer said.
The crew was welcomed and invited to an evening of food and culture on the following day.
They also enjoyed the Killer Whale Museum, the golf course kangaroos, the natural beauty of Aslings Beach as well as local shops and restaurants.
“It’s great to know that Eden Port is able to play our part in building international respect,” Reverend Palmer said.
