The 35-year-old pleaded guilty in Bega Local Court on July 26 to assaulting a 79-year-old Tura Beach resident driving to visit his wife at the South East Regional Hospital on January 21.
According to court documents, the elderly victim was driving his brown Jaguar at around 85 km/h in a 100km/h zone near Bournda on Sapphire Coast Dr at 3.30pm, when he was overtaken by the man, who then stopped his car on the road, blocking traffic.
The victim was then sworn at and punched in the right arm before the man slammed the car door and drove off.
Magistrate Doug Dick ordered the man, who suffers from mental health issues, to undergo random drug and alcohol testing and take prescribed medication.
