The Bulldogs and the Narooma Devils were the only first grade clubs competing over the long weekend after their round six competition was washed out.
The Bulldogs were able to take a clean sweep in all four senior grades with some close matches on the day.
The biggest result was in the league-tag where the Eden-Mer-Pam combine took a convincing 36-0 result over the She Devils.
Despite missing hooker Jared Cole, the Bulldogs were able to pull together a strong performance and keep the Devils at bay, winning 34-24 at the Pambula Sporting Complex on Saturday.
The reserve grade competition also favoured the hosts after a late try saved a close result as the the Bulldogs got the jump on their opponents 32-30.
In the headline first grade draw, the Bulldogs showed good form early to get out to an 8-0 advantage, but soon the Devils were fighting their way back into play and led 12-8 at the break.
A Narooma player was binned for 10 shortly after the break and the Bulldogs were able to take full advantage of the numbers difference, running in two tries off some good work through the ruck.
Narooma officials said they were “left to play catch up” but the visitors “didn’t produce the grit they showed last week” and conceded the result.
The Devils commended the Bulldogs on the win and said the Merimbula-Pambula club was starting to get a roll on with the “ever-improving” line-up.
The reserve grade clash was similar with the Bulldogs finding a late try to seal the win by two points.
Fans were treated to an exceptionally close game as both clubs traded blows on the scoreboard. The Devils ran out of puff late into the piece as the Bulldogs kept up a solid work rate throughout to clinch the win.
The Under 18s also went down in a nail biter, losing 28-24. They trailed at the break but came back into form in the second half to just miss out.
The Bulldogs will head to the Bombala Showground this weekend to meet the Blue Heelers in three grades.
