In the headline women’s grand final rematch, play had to be cut short due to an injury in the second quarter.
Tathra attacker Sam Crowley went down with a knee injury during a tackle early in the second period and an ambulance was called.
Due to the delay the match had to be called off.
A Tathra spokeswoman had said Eden chose not to continue play, but it was revealed under SCAFL rules that continuing play was not an option.
“Things maybe weren’t worded in the best way and will be making sure in future all facts are taken into consideration before speaking with the media,” Tathra Eaglettes captain Elouise Russell said on social media.
Both clubs were awarded a draw on the card and their for and against stats will be updated with the points on the board at the time play was stopped.
The two-time flag winning Eden Whalers will not meet the Eaglettes again until later in the season, but the Tathra captain knows it will be a tough encounter.
“Looking forward to when we do meet Eden again and get another great match with them, as it always is,” she said.
Eden comfortably holds the lead on for and against with the best attacking and defensive stats in the league.
The senior men’s game did run as scheduled, but the visiting Tathra Sea Eagles claimed the result by a solid margin.
The visitors claimed the competition points by almost 100, winning 18-10-118 to 4-2-26.
Dean Gartside and Adam Blacka both kicked four goals, but Louis Coulton shone with the boot, bagging six.
The Whalers displayed their usual resilience, especially in the fourth quarter to stem the flow of points, but couldn’t make up the margin.
In the other senior game, the Merimbula Diggers upstaged the Pambula Panthers in a local derby, to win by three points.
It was a low-scoring affair with the visitors battling hard to win 6-13-49 to 7-4-46.
Mitchell Wallis was among Pambula’s best, clearing space and kicking two goals, while Tom Fergusson found three goals.
Goal kicking prodigy Angus Tarpey had been heavily marked, but still found room to boot two for the hosts.
Merimbula’s goals came from six individual kickers, but Kris Collins was the standout with a pair on the day.
This Saturday the Whalers are at home when they play host to the Panthers.
Senior play will run from 1.10pm in the ladies game, while the seniors take the field from 2.30pm.
