It is the sixth year for the successful fun run and will be held on Sunday with 10km and 5km runs as well as a 2km kids’ dash.
Race director Lisa Lukassen said preparations were coming along nicely and the weather looked good for the event.
At the last count there were 100 entries with more coming in.
“It’s going up as of today, people are entering at the last minute,” Ms Lukassen said on Tuesday.
“With the change of course this year it’s all in town which makes it easier.
“There’s all the cafes there so when people finish running they can go and have breakfast.”
The Merimbula Fun Run is a family-friendly community event with multiple event categories and distances for runners and walkers of all abilities, running experience and ages.
This year all events will start and finish at Beach St, Merimbula with courses following a scenic return loop out past Spencer Park and along Lake St to Merimbula Wharf and back.
Ms Lukassen said previous events have been held at Ford Oval, but this one was going to be “spectator friendly” and family and friends would be able to see more of the people they know competing.
All registered finishers receive a medal. Placegetter prize money and team awards are up for grabs.
On Sunday the 10km run will start at 8am, the 5km run at 9am and the 2km kids’ dash at 9.45am.
Discounted registration closes on 4pm Saturday and you can register online at www.sapphirecoastrunners.com.au/merimbulafunrun.
