The faster you go – the longer it takes to stop. Students learnt how small increases of speed can influence stopping distance.
Lumen Christi Catholic College and Eden Marine High School pupils took part in a controlled demonstration led by RYDA program instructors Phil McDonald and Alan Close on Wednesday, May 16.
Students were quizzed on their knowledge of vehicle safety features. “Seat belts” was the popular answer although Mr Close mentioned other cruicial safety features students should be aware of such as, stability control and tread wear indicators.
Mr Close encouraged students to check the ANCAP safety rating of their vehicle before beginning the controlled demonstration exemplifying why it is important to not exceed the speed limit.
