Brogo RFS captain Mike Jay Mike said it was about one brigade helping out another.
“It was soon after the fires in Tathra that the community approached us to talk about a fundraiser for the Tathra RFS,” he said.
The plan is to have a fun day on the water at Brogo Dam with a chance to see some of the beautiful Brogo back country from the water for the price of a donation.
There will be a number of dragon boats at the event courtesy of the Merimbula Water Dragons and canoes from Brogo Wilderness Canoes. People are also invited to bring their own craft.
In addition there is a bouncy castle and face painting planned, sausage sizzle and coffee van available. The event can also be watched from the Brogo Dam wall.
Anyone wanting to take part is asked to bring water and sunscreen and closed in shoes that may get wet. Paddles and life jackets for those who require them will be available. Depending on the weather wear something warm such as a fleece.
Check out the Merimbula Water Dragons on Facebook for further information or contact Rosemarie Griffith (Brogo RFS) on 0401 526 875.
Mr Jay said that fundraising for the RFS brigades was so important and any help from the community was always greatly appreciated.
“We know how hard it is and how long it takes and our hearts go out to the brigade at Tathra. The volunteers are an amazing group of people so when one of the brigades goes through a tough time we like to rally round, brigade to brigade,” he said.
