Even at 9am buses were starting to fill up and visitors could be taking in the wharf over a cup of coffee.
The cruise ship’s arrival was a last minute detour.
“Originally the cruise was scheduled to visit Moreton Island however mechanical issues with the propeller have her coming to Eden instead,” cruise manager from Sapphire Coast Tourism, Natalie Godward said.
Ms Godward said that she was notified at 6 am Friday morning that the cruise ship would be making its unexpected stopover, leaving a little over 24 hrs to prepare for the ships arrival.
But despite the short notice, stalls were set up on the wharf, the Bega Valley town crier was there to welcome passengers, tour guides were on hand and the Cruise Eden Meet and Greet team were in evidence around the wharf and in Eden town.
The Pacific Explorer departed Sydney on Friday, April 27 for a four-night cruise of which Eden was the only stopover.
The official cruise season concluded in March with the departure of the Pacific Jewel.
