Proud mother Giselle Savage recently drove through Tathra explaining to her inquisitive daughter Billie Downes, “why daddy is helping to clean up all the broken houses and that people had lost everything”.

Ms Savage said that she was shocked when Billie sparked up and said “mummy I could give them all my money so that they can build a new house”.

“Because Billie had been a good girl the fairies had given her $10,” Ms Savage said. 

“So, I took Billie into the Tathra bakery and asked the staff if they knew someone who had lost everything in the fires, they pointed to a lady sitting outside.”

A life lesson unfolded before her daughter’s eyes, Billie handed over a sparkly pink purse filled with 10 and 20 cent pieces to a lady who happily accepted.

“It was very difficult to choke back the tears, the lady understood it meant a lot to Billie and the principle behind it. She was very grateful,” Ms Savage said.

Laughter then filled the air as Billie realised she had just handed over her favourite sparkly purse and said “wait, but you can’t build a house with a floppy bag”.
