Coastlife Adventures designed a week long program for the students to make the most of their experience touring the surrounding National Parks, deserted beaches and pristine lagoons.
The students aged 14 to 16-years-old are visiting Australia on a ten week exchange program attending private schools of Melbourne and Adelaide.
Coastlife Adventures helped the students to build comradeship and teamwork as well as teaching them invaluable skills about Australian bush and surf safety.
The combined group of 45 enjoyed their final day of the camp in Bournda by going bushwalking, taking canoes for a paddle and playing some volleyball.
“My friends who did this last year said this camp would be the best part of the whole trip.” Roman Fischer said.
Stand up paddle boarding, kayaking in Merimbula Lake and surfing at Pambula Beach were some of the activities the students enjoyed most.
“When we camped at Pambula Beach there were kangaroos right next to our tent!” Roman said.
The native animals have been an eye-opener for the group, making friends with some although steering clear of others.
“There have been two big ones on the toilet seat. I just feel no need to meet any spiders,” Elisa Menne said.
“We also saw a snake! And a goanna that hangs around all day, we named him Frank,” Elena Friedlein said.
The group were all very positive with their experience on the Far South Coast, learning different skills, making friends and enjoying the climate.
“After I finish school I would love to come back here for a gap year and travel, maybe to New Zealand too,” Roman said.
