Light to Light Camps proprietors, Jenny and Arthur Robb donated $450.00 to the centre after pledging last year to give a percentage of their net profits every year to a local environmental organisation.
They selected the Sapphire Marine Discovery Centre as the first year’s recipient due to Mrs Robb’s previous role as CEO where she acquired a passion and love for the local marine environment and a commitment to educate others about it.
“In my years with the centre I developed a deep commitment to environmental education. By showcasing the beauty and wonder of the environment along our coastline, people become more aware of the need to protect it,” Mrs Robb said.
Light to Light Camps is a new business that supports hiking along the Light to Light Walk in Ben Boyd National Park and also has a keen environmental focus.
Centre manager of the Sapphire Marine Discovery Centre, Kerryn Wood was thrilled to receive the donation which will help the centre to continue its vital environmental education work.
“We’re stoked of course!” Ms Wood said. “Any donation towards our not-for-profit organisation is gratefully received.”
Ms Wood said that the money would help to establish a new Little Penguin exhibit.
“We are planning to put the money towards a new exhibit featuring Little Penguins, and it’s only with generous donations like these, that we are able to make and update our exhibits,” she said.
