The ACT Track Championships was raced at the Narrabundah Velodrome over two days, February 10-11, covering six events.
This was not Hayden’s first time at the ACT championships, but it was his first year as an under 13.
In the prior two years as an U11, Hayden achieved gold twice at the event, so was very motivated to achieve highly again as a first year U13.
All the riders at the event faced extreme heat over the weekend, but they still raced very hard.
The racing was very close, with Hayden often coming second by a very small margin. He placed second in the scratch, keirin and points race events, clocked 16.117 in the flying 200, and 50.576 in the 500m time trial. Finally in the last race Hayden achieved a first.
Overall, Hayden achieved a well-deserved silver medal. Hayden is looking forward to next year’s event and remains motivated to get gold as an U13.
