Member for Bega Andrew Constance today announced four projects within the Bega Valley Shire have been approved to share $17 million in funding under Round Two of the NSW Government’s Boating Now program.

Mr Constance said that the Bega Valley would see $1.22 million for projects that will deliver new boat ramps, pontoons and jetties, and improve car and trailer parking facilities at key access points across the region.
“We have some of the finest waterways across our region and I am pleased to see that people heading out on the water on boats or other watercraft to enjoy the sun, catch a few fish or to spend time with family and friends will see these great locations upgraded,” Mr Constance said.
“The NSW Government is delivering these projects in partnership with local councils to make water activities safer, easily accessible and more enjoyable.
$155,000 will be used to upgrade the pontoon at Quarantine Bay Boat Ramp to improve capacity and usability, reducing congestion faced by users of the current facilities.

“The BVSC contribution relates to the renewal costs of the existing facilities. The great support through the Boating Now program enables us to make the sites even better for locals and visitors.”

“Boating Now is a $70 million five year program, on top of a $26 million contribution by local councils and other delivery partners, to deliver vital boating infrastructure across the state.”
Other local projects benefitting will include. $485,000 to be used at the Bermagui River Boat Ramp to replace the current single lane with a reinforced double lane ramp, install a pontoon and formalize the current car parking facilities.
$390,000 has been allocated to the Blackfellows Lake Boat Ramp to upgrade the current informal ramp to a concrete ramp, a pontoon, lighting and formalized car parking and access road.
$198,500 for Top Lake Boat Hire to install a new pontoon, gangway, piles and wheelchair access.
