The Eden Chamber of Commerce has been working to make the Eden shopping precinct a festive place for the town’s busy tourist and cruise season.
Chamber president Jenny Robb said the public decorations were getting a little tired and faded, so have been given a spruce up.
“We still had our light post decorations made by Damien Foat and Jamie Michelin many years ago and these were given a wonderful facelift by Joanne Korner and her mother Judy,” Ms Robb said.
“Many hours were spent replacing dull tinsel and they look fantastic on our poles brightening the whole street. Thank you to Wayne Longford and team who helped them get these up on the posts.”
The Killer Whale Santa idea from last year’s Events committee has been expanded and Daphne Lister and Diane Swane from Art on Imlay, together with Ross Dobbyns from Eden Men’s Shed, repainted last year’s and made bigger ones for this year. Richard Lamacraft fixed them all to pickets so they could grace the street.
The bottom half of the Norfolk pines have been wrapped in flashing lights then wrapped with red net covered in stars – they look particularly good at night.
Meanwhile, huge coloured baubles balls have magically appeared in the gardens. They were provided by Kerry Rogers who has been assisting with the decorating for years.
“Our Eden - Eden Chamber of Commerce thank all of these people for donating their time to help make our main street festive and welcoming for Christmas,” Ms Robb said. “It has been a huge community effort.”
