The project was initiated by the Eden Swimming Club, which, along with the wider Eden community, raised funds to purchase the new covers.
Council helped by purchasing the mechanical winch needed for staff to operate the covers and assisted with some additional funding. BVSC aquatic and leisure facilities coordinator Nicholas Hoynes said this is a terrific example of the community and council collaborating for everyone’s benefit.
“The hope is that the covers will enable us to achieve more consistent water temperatures for swimmers over the season, with staff to monitor daily water and air temperatures to track the benefits of the covers,” Mr Hoynes said.
“Special thanks must go to the Eden Swimming Club and Eden community, as without their hard work and dedication to their pool we would not have been able to complete this project.”
