Time is running out to nominate yourself for a place on the Bega Valley Shire Youth Council, with applications closing on Thursday, July 31.
Applications are welcome from people aged between 15 and 25 who are interested in youth issues and making positive changes for young people in the shire.
BVSC community development officer Donna Campbell said nominees will have the chance of being a valuable addition to a dynamic unit of young people who want to make a difference in the Bega Valley Shire.
“Youth Council members will work together to identify youth community issues, and then work on projects which address these issues,” she said.
“Nominees must have time to contribute to the Youth Council over the next 12 months, including regular meetings to discuss current issues.
“There are several exciting opportunities coming up this year which will enable representatives to develop a range of skills, have a lot of fun, and lead youth initiatives throughout the shire.
“It’s important to attract applications from diverse backgrounds and places throughout the shire who can offer a range of skills to ensure that the Youth Council represents a cross-section of the young people in our community.
“Nominations for the next Youth Council close at the end of July, so we’re encouraging anyone who’s interested to get their nominations in as soon as possible.”
Nominations will be accepted via email, in person or by post until the close of business on Thursday, July 31.
Application forms are available from Bega Valley Shire Council offices or on council's website.
The Youth Council’s term will run from July 2014 to June 30, 2015.
