The event’s local partner, Eden Toyota, will also host planting sessions at 11.30am on Monday, July 28 at Jigamy Farm, and 2.30pm at Eden Golf Club that afternoon.
Organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota Australia, National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day have been responsible for helping various community groups plant more than 20million trees across the country since 1996.
The initiative aims to create a society where people have contact with nature, understand its value and participate in its care.
“Each year, more than 200,000 people take part in National Tree Day at approximately 3000 planting sites, which is testament to the willingness of Australian communities to do what they can to support the environment,” Planet Ark spokesperson Debbie Agnew said.
“Every tree we plant on National Tree Day or Schools Tree Day has a positive impact on the future of our planet, but none of it would be possible without Toyota and its dealer network’s support.”
Toyota Australia marks 15 years of support for the initiative this year, and Eden Motor Group managing director Con Zurcas says the local dealership is proud to be part of an ongoing commitment towards global sustainability.
Mr Zurcas said his team will be raring to go with shovels in hand, and he hopes to see as many members of the community as possible working alongside them.
“Toyota has a long tradition of supporting Australian communities to globally improve the environment, so we are looking forward to digging in to do our bit for National Tree Day this year,” Mr Zurcas said.
“Our staff have their shovels ready to support this great cause and give something back to our community.”
