The annual Pambula Surf Life Saving Club’s presentation dinner recognised the club’s finest members and lifesavers on Saturday night.

Organisers said the club hit new heights with members achieving 105 awards this season.

“That represents a lot of commitment and skill being harnessed by Pambula’s small but very active club”, president Don Hay said.

“There were many club members who accumulated huge numbers of hours on the beach”, club captain, Ken Carman said.

Kieran Harris topped off a tremendous year by completing 100 hours of voluntary service.

Kieran’s efforts were rewarded with the honour of being named senior club person of the year.

Among award winners were Andrew Holt, senior competitors of the year Beth Knox and Zali Kelly, junior competitor Jack McGuire.

Junior club person and most consistent competitor was Hayley Ashcroft, while Grace Knox and Maddie Whatman were the most improved in the water.

Andrew Young picked up the coach’s award.

Meanwhile, patrol five, led by Dominic Hides was named patrol of the year.

Hay said it was exciting to see the young lifesavers coming through the ranks.

“The upcoming cadets and young senior-competitors made their mark this season, cleaning up in most competition and training divisions.

“It’s exciting to have so many enthusiastic and talented young lifesavers only just beginning to hit their straps,” he said.

“I think we can expect to hear a lot more in the future about the talent we have moving up the ranks,” said Holt, who is already looking forward to the season ahead.

Members enjoyed a positive atmosphere and the proceedings ran smoothly.

“Congratulations and thank you to all who made the season the success that it was,” Hay said.
