The 2012 36-hole championship was restricted to the one round after a tremendous hail storm lashed the golf course on Sunday afternoon.
It was arguably the first time in the event’s history that club officials had to abandon the second round.
A total of 144 players did battle on the Saturday, and unfortunately the 133 players who showed up for Sunday’s second round did not need to sign their cards.
Club officials were delighted with the numbers contesting the first round of the Gippsland Tyre Service and Toyo Tyres sponsored open, but were naturally disappointed with Mother Nature during round two on Sunday.
Collins proved once again his status as Eden’s most talented golfers with his victory, while Peter Gordon was declared the A grade scratch winner with a score of 72.
The open handicap winner was Craig Reid from the Moruya Club with a well controlled 63 nett.
C grade winner, John Fletcher, also recorded back to back victories after having won the C grade Mallacoota Open the previous weekend.
Next Saturday members will contest the Chris Waddell memorial two-ball shootout with 11am shotgun start.
On completion of the day’s play the annual presentation will take place followed by a Chinese banquet.
Members are also reminded that the Christmas party and golf fun day will be on December 8, not December 15 as previously allocated.
