The Twofold Bay Yacht Club conducted race two on the bay on Sunday in idyllic conditions – a real shame more boats weren’t there to enjoy the lovely northeaster that was steady for the entire race.

Four boats faced off at the start. Livid dipped back across the line to made an excellent start, albeit a bit risky, with only six seconds to spare before they would have had to go around the end of the line to start correctly.
Gem blasted out of the blocks with good speed. A bit further along the line but with plenty of clean air, whereas GoGo ate up all of Livid’s bad air.
Margaret D was well into the course having started 30 minutes earlier. So the race was on to chase them down.
The three Adams 10 boats left the start area with Livid to windward, Gem steaming along to leeward and GoGo somewhere in between.
Things didn’t change during the race except that the distances between boats only grew bigger.
The only close encounter was when Gem tacked in GoGo’s water and quick action was needed to avoid some paintwork being spoiled.
Placings for line honours saw Livid first, Gem second, GoGo third and Margaret D fourth.
The club is holding a free Discover Sailing Day on Sunday, October 22 at Quarantine Bay from 9.30am to noon.
