The team’s first official match of the Far South Coast Cricket Association following its round one walkover against Bermagui proved to be a successful one.
An impressive three-wicket haul and 75-run stand from Martin Butchers helped his side to the 20-run victory.
Eden won the toss and elected to bat first at the Pambula Beach Ground, with Drew Mudaliar looking to punish an early dropped catch before succumbing to the same fieldsman on 16 runs.
That brought Pat Kearney to the crease, who combined with Butchers for an 85-run partnership.
Kearney (35 runs) and Tyrone Thomas (46) kept the scoreboard ticking over, while wayward bowling from the Bluedog bowlers resulted in a crucial 35 extras.
The visitors finished their 40 overs at 6/234.
Thomas claimed the first of his three wickets when he combined with Rob Stevenson to dismiss Zak Keogh for two runs.
Lewis Hopkins (24 runs) and Tom Keath (91) fought back with a 48-run partnership before Tim Bowes (2/40) snared the breakthrough wicket.
Pambula wickets continued to fall as the home side found itself in a precarious position at 5/115.
Bluedogs Ethan Adams (26 runs) and Josh Hammond (26 not out) did what they could at the crease, but the required run rate became too much, Pambula finishing 9/214 after 40 overs.
Thomas (3/37) starred alongside Butchers with the ball, while Kearney (1/19) also claimed a wicket. The bowling lineup leaked just 10 sundries.
Eden will play host to Tathra at Eden Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 21 from 1pm after the Sea Eagle enjoyed a bye.
Meanwhile the Eden-Mallacoota division two side waited until the final over to clinch a one-wicket victory against Tuross Head at home.
The visitors won the toss and batted first, finishing its revised 39 overs at 9/169.
Bruce Pascoe was the pick of the Eden bowlers with 3/12 off four overs, while Xavier Bowes (2/17) also bowled a tidy spell from his four overs.
Andrew Swayn (1/3), Connor Cassie (1/12) and Stuart Cassie (1/19) were the other wicket-takers.
Eden-Mallacoota’s run chase hit shaky ground early with openers Stuart Cassie (10 runs) and Cody Crane (8) bowing out.
But a match-winning 76 not out from Paul Preston ensured the home side tasted its first win of the 2017-18 season.
Swayn’s 26 runs also proved handy, as did the 40 sundries, as five other batsmen fell for single figures.
Eden-Mallacoota will travel to Wolumla Sports Ground to face a rested team that thumped Bega-Angledale by 144 runs in the opening round.
