The second annual Men’s Shed Week will be recognised across Australia from Monday, September 25 to Sunday, October 1, as part of a showcase of the contribution of the work of Men’s Sheds to local communities.
October will also mark the 10th anniversary of the Eden Men’s Shed.
Eden Men’s Shed president Jack Dickenson said the local shed in Maling Street had about 30 members, with an average of 18 men attending twice a week to engage in activities such as wood or metal work, enjoy a game of pool or simply get together for a cuppa.
Australian Men’s Shed Association executive officer David Helmers said sheds helped prevent social isolation, promoted positive health and wellbeing among men, and enabling them to positively connect with their community.
“Men’s Sheds have become a vital investment because every community benefits,” he said.
