Club insiders have provided this first hand look at some of the strengths of the undefeated Eden side ahead of the big clash.
1. Tanya Waites Age: 30 Position: Goalkeeper
Eden’s No. 1 keeper this season, her vocals and organisation from the back has been invaluable to the side’s success with Eden’s defence only conceding 4 goals in 12 games. Not afraid to put her body on the line when it counts and also a handy defender.
2. Talia Westley Age: 17 Position: Centre Midfield
The ace in the pack. Has the ball on a string and will give the opposition nightmares with her sublime skill, speed and endurance. Her focus is second to none and she will be jumping out of her skin in anticipation of the big game. A game breaker.
5. Melissa Mitchell Age: 28 Position: Midfield
“The Machine” has been known to Parkrun then play footy Saturday followed by moto racing and soccer Sunday. Supreme athlete with plenty of finals experience. Her pin point corners and crosses will be a key for Eden come Sunday.
6. Kate Beaven Age: 18 Position: Defence or Midfield
Has been more than solid in the back and midfield for Eden ladies for several years. Playing possibly her last game for the Club, Kate will give her all, as she does each and every week. Can score cracking goals if given any room to move.
7. Debbie Heron (Co-captain) Age: 41 Position: Centre Midfield
Another inaugural grand final winner who has more grand final experience than she can remember, (but that could just be due to old age). Will look to set up scoring opportunities and is still pretty handy with close range free kicks.
8. Kamilla Grubesic Age: 25 Position: Striker
2016 Association Player of the Year. Super talented striker and big game player with an uncanny ability to score. Her will to win and competitive edge pushes her to lift her team mates and she will work herself into the ground to get the job done on Sunday.
9. Emma Webster Age: 16 Position: Defender
One of Eden’s young guns, a quiet achiever who has cemented her starting position in the back line. Scored two of the best goals of the season from full back and will be looking to add to her tally when it’s least expected.
11. Kate Mitchell Age: 28 Position: Defence or Centre Mid
Skilful defender and midfielder with plenty of final victories under her belt. Can set up play from the back, rarely misses a tackle, has an outstanding passing game, great vision and a powerful shot. An outstanding player for Eden over many years.
12. Jaimie Mongta Age: 31 Position: Utility
Very handy utility, playing midfield, full back or goalkeeper throughout the season. Great positional player and an aerial specialist who will be looking to feature on corners.
14. Shyanne Walker Age: 21 Position: Utility
Suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season and will be pushing hard to come back for grand final. Speedy utility who never backs out of a challenge and will chase down every ball.
15. Kim Peters Age: 32 Position: Defender
Often given the challenge of closing down the opposition playmaker, she thrives on competition and has a heart as big as Phar Lap. Speed, determination and stamina by the bucket load and in true Eden style never, ever gives up.
16. Lauren Terry Age: 15 Position: Utility
In her first year of seniors and has slotted into the team beautifully. Talented player with excellent ball control, great vision and plays with confidence beyond her years. Can play any position and won’t back out of a challenge.
17. Jasmine Lefel Age: 28 Position: Central Defender
Has been a rock at the back all year. Reads the game like a book, has pace to burn, leads her defenders brilliantly and has been a key to Eden’s dominant defence and success this season.
18. Amber Seckold (Co-captain) Age: 39 Position: Striker
Like a fine wine, continues to get better with age! Has the ability to single handedly turn a game on it’s head. Inaugural Grand Final winner and inspirational Eden Ladies Legend who loves the big occasions.
Coach – Mark Heron
Inaugural Grand Final winning Eden Ladies Coach and has been a strong supporter of women’s football ever since. Has an incredibly successful record coaching Eden Ladies and is looking to continue this on Sunday and then moving forward with the Far South Coast Ladies Rep Team.
