OPINION
Recently we posted my picks for a strong Group 16 side that was largely well-received, so with the Sapphire Coast AFL (SCAFL) finals looming, I’ve had a look at the Aussie rules side of things.

This team list doesn’t necessarily represent a potential rep side, or even the strongest side possible from the SCAFL pool of talent, but is a great representation of players who have impressed me on the park.
It was incredibly difficult to name a squad as there are so many top players around the region, but I’ve tried to pick out some of the guys who just add a good spark to their positions and catch my eye when I’m match-side.
So if I had my run of all the players in the comp, here’s a team I would put on the field:
In the back line
Jeremy Sly (Narooma Lions)
Jordan Pilgrim (Pambula Panthers)
Daniel Worden (Merimbula Diggers)
The half-backs
Luke Taylor (Tathra Sea Eagles *Assistant captain)
Jason Sailuma (Narooma Lions)
Luke Moresi (Bermagui Breakers)
Through the centre
Chris Dwyer (Tathra Sea Eagles)
Scott Proctor (Bermagui Breakers *Captain)
Will Regan (Merimbula Diggers)
The Half-forwards
Tyson Nunn (Pambula Panthers)
Louis Coulton (Tathra Sea Eagles)
Luke Talty (Narooma Lions)
Up front
Sean Smith (Pambula Panthers)
Simon Mackie (Narooma Lions)
Jake Taylor (Pambula Panthers)
Followers
Jordan Lang (Narooma Lions)
Aaron Proctor (Pambula Panthers)
Troy O’Loghlin (Tathra Sea Eagles)
Off the interchange
Jack Burch (Merimbula Diggers) Marcus Shaw (Bermagui Breakers) Jordan Merkel and Luke Grewar (Eden Whalers)
Emergency: Billy Stubbs (Merimbula Diggers)
Coach: Mick Clothier (Narooma Lions)

Here’s a little rundown on some of my choices and why they made the cut, but I’m more than open to hearing who you think should get the spot.
Mick Clothier has transformed the youthful Lions into the premiership favourite after a few quiet seasons
Jordan Pilgrim is a tall defender, who can play both ends, but has also shone in the ruck in recent outings.
Wordo is a hard in-and-under player, who is reliable on a contested ball and a real leader on the field.
Luke Taylor has a good snap kick and on-field leadership earning him assistant captain honours in this list.
Jason Sailuma has pace to burn and is as versatile as they come, he can play anywhere.
Luke Moresi an incredible defender for Bermagui and a real good mind for footy, he’s also deadly accurate with snap shots under pressure.
Chris Dwyer flies under the radar, but works tirelessly and runs harder than most all game.
Scott Proctor comes up with plenty of possession and has had a stellar season with his new club at Bermagui.
Will Regan was named Diggers best and fairest by a landslide and an emerging young rep start.
Tyson Nunn is a classy half-forward with a dangerous boot in front of goals.
Louis Coulton – almost unbeatable in the air with high-flying grabs, bagged nearly 50 goals for the Eagles.
Luke Talty is one of the biggest danger players in the list, he is blindingly fast and poses a threat on goals anywhere inside the forward half.
Sean Smith is another hard worker, who consistently performs well in the front.
Simon Mackie has made a name for himself as the competition’s leading kicker this year with 95 to his name and dominates at full forward.
Jake Taylor is another big forward with good reach and long range, kicked 35 majors this year.
Jordan Lang - was the best big man in the game last year and haven't look back.
Aaron Proctor - A league best and fairest, he’ll feature in the count again and has been a star for the Panthers.
Troy O'Loghlin - Always comes up with the ball out of the middle, can beat much bigger men in a contest, a powerhouse for the Sea Eagles.
Jack Burch - a strong midfielder who has helped glue the Diggers together.
Marcus Shaw is always a threat in front of goals and works well at his home club in Bermagui.
Jordan Merkel was Eden’s only rep pick this year and has continued to show why he was named since.
Luke Grewar is a rising young gun, runner-up in Eden’s best and fairest and will build in coming seasons.
Billy Stubbs has been a gun junior and already showing potential in his first senior year.
