The brief for this week sounds simple, anything but a bedroom. And it is fairly straightforward, but it's also proving to be a good litmus test as to which of the contestants are really thinking about their eventual buyers and which of them are working it out as they go along.

In this day and age of open-plan living being de rigueur, family homes need alternate spaces; a formal sitting room, a space for the piano, a retreat for adults to escape to as the teenagers crash out in the family living room ... never has the idea of a "good room" been more in demand.
Hannah and Clint are on track to deliver an elegant space that I think will be seen as a kind of sanctuary for many buyers. The beautiful sofa, the mouldings on the wall, the soft colour palette - it's pretty special. And it's a room that one could easily slide the doors shut and enjoy a cup of tea and a few moments peace or while away an evening binging on your favourite TV show. You'd be hard pressed to find a family (er, parents) who wouldn't covet a space like that.
The dark colours Ronnie and Georgia used made me feel this was a place for adults to have a night cap in; and as tempting as that idea sounds; I don't think people are really living like that on a daily basis. Or maybe it's just me?
I hope Sarah and Jason follow their family-style approach all the way through and actually create a cosy TV room for the whole house to enjoy. A space decked out with plump sofas designed to snuggle down and watch a movie in. But with the numerous details going on on the ceiling I have reservations. Ornate art deco ceiling cornices, multiple skylights as well as lighting. They need to hold back.
Josh and Elyse have created a gorgeous study; but I'd question how many families are okay without a secondary living space in lieu of a decent sized office (and bear in mind they will have the option in a few weeks of converting the granny flat out the back into another office).
Sticks and Wombat are in the same boat, but they're left with a snip of a room due to their oversized en suite a couple weeks back.
