Attendees were also treated to an entertaining performance from bush poet Peter O’Brien, as well as demonstrations on tracking family history online.

Bega Valley Shire Library’s Linda Albertson said it was great to see so many people at the event talking about their history and ancestry.

“We have got some younger people here and some older people, so testament that everyone is interested in family history,” she said.

“It defines who we are. It’s important to know where we’ve come from and who we are and I think at some level everybody is keen to find that out at some point.”

Club Sapphire will be hosting the Our History, Our Heritage Day on Saturday, September 2, which looks at the aspects of the region’s history and heritage.
