The Wunulla Road residence is fittingly named Bellata, so called after the town 570 kilometres northwest of Sydney where his dad Kerry Connole dreamed of restoring an old bakery to its former glory.

It was from those humble beginnings that Sonoma Baking Company was founded in the late 1990s.

A decade after selling his first sourdough loaf in 2001, Connole and his wife Irene bought their harbourfront home for $9.7 million from architect Harold Finger and his wife Rebecca.

It was no doubt a decent step up from the apartments they owned in Bellevue Hill, both of which were sold in 2012 for just shy of $3 million.

Like the artisan sourdough bakery, the Connole home has been upgraded in recent years, with a renovation and high-end finishes throughout.

There is no price guide on offer this time around by Bill Malouf, of LJ Hooker Double Bay, but the $18 million sale next door two years ago by South African-born insurance industry chief Richard Enthoven is an easy comparison for buyers.

The private jetty and deepwater pontoon front a harbourside pool, and a four-level residence with a lift, formal and informal living areas, study, parent's retreat with a dressing room and sunroom with a spa.

The family's plan to make a lifestyle change - still in the east - follows the recent sale of their Hunter Valley property in Pokolbin for $1.4 million to local McDonald's licensee Murray and Denise McKeough.
