Thousands of dollars was recently spent on a state of the art canteen renovation meaning the kitchen officially complies with national standards.
Canteen managers Kylie Ewin said the much needed renovation was the first upgrade the canteen has seen since the building was opened in 1979.
Ms Ewin, who has worked at the canteen for eight years, said the renovation was needed before she started.
“It’s been a long time coming so I am definitely glad it is finally here,” Ms Ewin said.
The works were made possible by a sum of money from the NSW Schools Department as well as a $3000 donation from the school’s P&C.
“Revamping this asset means the P&C can continue to provide the school community with nutritious lunches and snacks for the next 40 (nearly) years,” the P&C posted to Facebook.
Ms Ewin and fellow canteen manager Jenny Robinson said they were most excited about their new oven which will allowed them to bake cookies, muffins and quiches for the first time.
“It’s just so much nicer to come in to, it’s easier to clean, the appliances are all new, it’s just a whole new work space,” Ms Ewin said.
