The Eden Economic Gardening Project will give businesses and not-for-profits the opportunity to learn new and exciting ways to make their enterprise prosper.
Brought to the area through a partnership between the Eden Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre, the workshops will teach people how their business or not-for-profit can thrive and grow while also giving back to the local community and creating work for others.
Peter Gordon of the Southern Region Business Enterprise Centre will be the one delivering the three workshops which will take place over three months.
“The Economic Garden program is not something new, but it will certainly be of benefit to the Eden community,” Mr Gordon said.
“Rather than focus on attracting new businesses to an area it looks at those existing businesses and we see what we can do to make them grow.
“We want to work to give local businesses new ideas and give the community the confidence to implement their ideas.”
The Eden Economic Gardening Project is one of eight projects designed to improve opportunities for Eden’s young people that received a grant from the Eden Futures Program in April.
The project received $15,000 in funding which Mr Gordan said has been used to ensure that the three workshops are free for those wanting to attend.
He said growing Eden’s local businesses will go hand in hand with creating opportunities for local youths.
“We also want to try to attract young people to attend the workshop, even if they have no business experience, it will help them learn and would be beneficial to anyone considering a career in business,” Mr Gordon said.
“It will be an opportunity for young people to mix with business owners so they can appreciated the challenges and benefits of working in business.”
The sessions will run from 11am until 4pm on on Tuesdays, August 8, September 19 and October 31.
