School holiday cash mob
Start the school holidays with cash mob. Eden’s next Cash Mob will take place on Saturday, July 1. The aim of a Cash Mob is to give back to the small local businesses that support our community. The Cash mobbers are chasing the sun so we will meet at 9.30am out the front of the IMB. Here everyone will be told the retailer we will be mobbing with the intention of each spending at least $20 on retail products or a gift voucher. Morning tea with a twist will follow.
This mob is suitable to any age, so bring your children, bring your grandparents and tell your neighbours to come along. This is not a one off event. We have plenty of businesses who need our support. Enquires to Tracey 0468541871.
Be bus aware
Sapphire Coast Buslines is calling on the public to prioritise the safety of children when driving through school zones and passing buses.
Managing director of Sapphire Coast Buslines Jamie Klemm is speaking out as part of Sapphire Coast Buslines’ participation in the Be Bus Aware campaign. The NSW Centre for Road Safety initiative aims to reduce death and injury on and around buses. In 2017 there have already been 11 fatalities on Australian roads which involve buses and Ms Klemm said even that relatively low number is far too many.
The Be Aware Bus campaign which will run in the last week of Term 2 and the first week of Term 3 is aimed at increasing awareness of the laws around bus flashing lights for motorists and safe crossing procedures for parents and families.
The laws that Ms Klemm said can cause confusion are that buses have right of way when pulling out and a 40km/h speed limit applies when bus lights flash. The campaign also highlights the importance on supervising children and holding their hands when walking to and from the bus stop and when crossing the road.

Parkinson Support
The June meeting of the Bega Valley Parkinson Support group was well attended and those present were treated to a CD on the work being done with stem cells.
The research using stem cells gave the meeting some reasons to anticipate that we could find a cure in the future and also help in the management of Parkinson Disease.
For the July meeting a presentation by a speech therapist has been arranged. Speech is a common problem with Parkinson sufferers. The next meeting will be held on July 3 at 10.30 at Bega Golf Club.
