The Diggers were in damage control from the outset as they rallied to stem the flow of the points from the ladder-leading Whalers.
The Whalers crushed the Diggers on the scoreboard 13-6-84 to 1-0-6.
Eden showed their usual flair of dominating ruck contests and pushing play forward with fantastic speed and fitness.
Despite some valiant defence from the Diggers, the club put three majors and a single behind through the posts in the opening quarter to set up a 19-point lead.
With a dominant display from the Eden midfield and back line, the Diggers were unable to even get a shot on goals, with their single six-pointer coming in the last quarter.
The second quarter was the strongest for Eden, overwhelming the Merimbula side to pile on 32 points with five unanswered goals and a pair of behinds.
It was a huge effort across the park with a number of goal kickers showing strongly for the hosts on the Eden ground.
Rhiannon Richardson led the charge with three majors, while Maggie Brown, Alexis Watson and Ally Crowe each bagged a pair.
The club also welcomed four individual goal kickers as Shanic Mongta, Tyler Crowe, Kate Mitchell and Tammy Whitford each slotted a six-pointer through the big sticks.
The goals continued flowing for the Whalers into the third quarter, but the Diggers began clawing back some possession with renewed effort.
The visitors almost stemmed the flow of points into the final quarter and kicked their sole goal with Skye Holmes hitting the mark for the Merimbula club.
The Whalers sit just two competition points clear of the Tathra Sea Eagles, but are yet to taste defeat this season.
Unfortunately the senior side is at the other end of the spectrum, going down to the Diggers by a big margin and slumping at the bottom of the table.
The Diggers secured a win over their hosts 23-8-146 to 9-4-58.
Jordan Merkel had a blinder for the hosts, kicking six of Eden’s nine goals, while Ben Thomas bagged a pair and Ricky Scott booted the single.
This weekend, the Whalers travel to Tathra’s Lawrence Park to take on the Sea Eagles.
For the ladies, this will be a top of the table clash where victory could decide the outright lead into the late stages of the season with the game to run at 1.10pm.
