The Eden club contested two days of play over a split round with the ladies winning their two matches comfortably with a 32-4 win over the Pink Panthers and 20-6 over the She-Devils.
The first grade squad suffered a narrow loss to the Devils, while the reserve grade portability Eels were forced to forfeit to the Panthers due to lack of players.
Club president Michael Gandon said the ladies played “an open, elegant style of football” to claim the two good results.
“Rebecca Gray starred for Eden, taking out the three points on successive days in the club's best and fairest award and receiving the players' player against Narooma,” Gandon said.
Alexandra Spivey took out the players’ player crown in the clash with the Pink Panthers.
The Tigresses made the most of gaps in the line and punished the Pink Panthers for their mistakes, but then backed up to do it again on Sunday against the She Devils.
The Tigresses opened with a “superb solo try” to Gray just before Spivey cut a good line through the defenders to lead 10-0 with Kiarna Mitchell adding the extras.
It was 14-0 at the break with Gray again running away from the pack.
In the second half the She-Devils injected gun fullback Lily Bennett to the game, adding instant impact with a converted try.
However, Gray rallied and sealed the Eden win with a breakaway run from the 50 to score her third for the day.
In first grade, Gandon said it was a “disappointing performance” for the Tigers, slipping to a 32-20 loss to the Devils.
“Eden began positively with a try out wide to five-eighth John Aldridge and almost scored again but were recalled for a forward pass,” Gandon said.
Unfortunately, the Devils hooker Ninnum Parsons found the defence lacking and darted through to score with Ryan Norris adding the extras.
Tim Crone extended the margin before Anthony Thomas made a quick break up the wing and Eden was on the back foot 16-4, before Eden Winger Jack Gray replied to trail 16-8 at the break.
The Tigers got within two points early in the second half when Joe Sagoe punched through Narooma to find the line, but the Devils fired back with three unanswered tries in quick succession.
Eden’s best-on-ground Michael Wykes was relentless and was rewarded for his tireless work with a late try.
Gandon said Vince Worthley was a standout for the Bermagui-Cobargo-Eden combine despite a 30-0 loss to the Devils. He also praised Rhys Grewar and Josh Brown for their concerted efforts.
This weekend the Tigers will host Batemans Bay at the home ground of the Eels with play to go ahead at Cobargo’s Narira Park on Sunday.
