Eden Chamber of Commerce’s biennial celebration of its business sector and community leaders will be held in February 2018, with a new name for the event.
The awards, which were previously known as the Excellence in Eden Business Awards, will now be called the Eden Business and Community Awards.
Awards coordinator Clair Mudaliar said it was decided to change of name of the awards to better reflect the nature of the awards, especially the importance of volunteers and community service.
And the gala event – to be held at the Eden Fishermen’s and Recreation Club on Saturday, February 24, 2018 – will have a masquerade theme, ensuring even more fun on the night for the winners, nominees and guests.
The Magnet will be back on board in 2018 as a proud supporter of the awards.
Editor Ben Smyth said the awards are a fantastic way to acknowledge and celebrate the vibrant business community in Eden.
“We’re very happy to again be invited to help support the Eden Chamber of Commerce and the business awards. It’s a great event for the entire community to get behind.
“And the addition of awards for our wonderful volunteers and community service organisations is particularly pleasing.”
Nominations will open in November and close in January.
The award categories will be the same as previous years, with nominations to be accepted in two broad categories – Excellence in Small Business and People’s Choice.
The Excellence is Small Business awards will be presented to businesses employing less than 20 people on their payroll, and businesses with more than 20 employees.
The awards recognise businesses that have attained significant growth and are able to demonstrate strategies that have led to sustainable growth in the previous 24 months.
The People’s Choice awards recognise customer service by individuals and business, the best apprentices and trainees, and those people, groups and organisations who volunteer or perform some other community service.
